FGS Hsi Lai Temple Senior Activity Program Rings in 2024 with Handcrafted "Fortune Cat Blessing Red Envelopes"

At the Fo Guang Shan (FGS) Hsi Lai Temple Senior Activity Program, the popular handicraft class welcomed elderly participants again. On January 2, 2024, to mark the start of the new year, Teacher Bizhen Wu led a heartwarming activity, guiding 35 elderly participants in crafting "Fortune Cat Blessing Red Envelopes." These symbolic creations served as tokens of blessings, embodying the program's spirit of care and community.

With the Lunar New Year approaching, the grandparents at Senior Activity Program are preparing to give out red envelopes to their younger family members. Teacher Wu mentioned that while the red envelopes are already a hit with the kids, pairing them with cute, handcrafted red envelope holders adds an extra festive touch.

Despite their cute appearance, assembling the red packet envelopes is a detailed process, challenging the seniors' eyesight, dexterity, and creativity. Under Teacher Wu's enthusiastic guidance and with help from staff members, the elderly participants worked diligently, combining both hand and brain power. One by one, adorable cat designs came to life, bringing smiles to everyone's faces.

The FGS Hsi Lai Temple Senior Activity Program provides a learning platform for seniors, enriching their lives through continuous educational opportunities. The current semester will conclude on January 9, with the next semester starting after the Lunar New Year.
