“It’s Time to Talk” by Hsi Lai Temple and St. Andrew’s Church — Film Web-series On Climate Change

On March 14, the Parliament of World’s Religion invited Fo Guang Shan Hsi Lai Temple’s abbot, Ven. Hui Dong and St. Andrew Russian Greek-Catholic Church’s pastor, Rt. Rev. Alexei Smith, to be involved in a video for the Parliament’s Climate Change Action Group web-series “It’s Time to Talk”. The filming location was inside Canter’s Deli, established 1931 on Fairfax Ave., in Los Angeles, and was inspired by the 80’s film “My Dinner with Andre”.

The WildBill production team prepared a quaint film setup in a corner of Canter’s Deli—complete with set lighting and camera equipment—which allowed Ven. Hui Dong and Father Alexei sit comfortably and engage in a casual conversation together about the intersections between their faiths and issues of climate change. Their sharing emphasized the importance of immediate actions needed to be taken toward protecting our environment, as well as, the urgency of finding solutions toward climate change.

The short video will be premiered on Earth Day (April 22, 2022) through the parliament’s launching website. Hopefully, this video will inspire leaders within different religious communities to participate in this “It’s Time to Talk!” dialogue and to take necessary concrete action as well.
