Hsi Lai Temple's Blessing for Winter- Donations of Blankets and Supplies

Thanksgiving is just around the corner. In response to the good and beautiful meaning of this holiday, Fo Guang Shan Hsi Lai Temple and BLIA Los Angeles Chapter held a donation event to charitable organizations, public welfare organizations and school districts. The event was held from October 26 to 28. A total number of 4,019 blankets, 2000 face masks, and 1330 bottles of hand sanitizers were donated.

Fo Guang Shan Hsi Lai Temple Ven. Hui Ze, Ven. Zhi Xing, Ven. Zhi San, Ven. Zhi Qing, the Deputy Chair of BLIA Los Angeles Chapter Elder Advisors Committee Ms. Gena Ooi, BLIA Hsi Lai English Subchapter members Tim King and Lynette King, the BLIA Young Adult Division (YAD) Raymond Kong, Allen Cai, and Michelle Vien went to various charity organizations and public welfare organizations in the neighborhoods of Hacienda Heights, California to donate blankets, masks and hand sanitizers.

Some days ago, Hsi Lai Temple received blanket donations from NIUJINMALI Inc. The manager of the Department of Social Education & Outreach Ven. Zhi Xing and Ven. Hui Ze led the local volunteers, the Los Angeles BLIA YAD II, and the Hsi Lai Scouts to start packing blankets on the October Day of Giving (a monthly volunteer day).

Seventeen different organizations including elderly care centers, disabled children care centers, homeless shelters, low-income households, animal shelters, animal hospitals, and Hacienda La Puente Unified School District (HLPUSD) received donations. The HLPUSD received the largest allocation to be distributed to students from low-income families and single-parent families.

Many of the charitable organizations and public welfare organizations have cooperated with Hsi Lai Temple for many years. Through donations from different manufacturers, Hsi Lai Temple repackaged the items and spread the love to local communities, which is also a blessing gift from Hsi Lai Temple to the public on the eve of Thanksgiving.
